Legislative Update From Representative John Otto’s Office

Published on February 11, 2015 by Larry Crippen

Our State Representative, John Otto, informs everyone in his weekly Legislative Update that Leadership Southeast Texas paid a visit to the Capitol to meet with legislators and agency officials to discuss issues important to the region.

Representative Otto has joint authored a bill to require the Office of Violent Sex Offender Management to provide advance notice when selecting locations to house facilities.

He passes along that the most anticipated news of the week was the announcement of House committees. Mr. Otto was honored to be appointed chair of the Committee on Appropriations. He will have the opportunity to oversee the development of a $202 billion budget and be able to focus on priorities that matter to his constituents such as transportation and border security.

He says his goal is to pass a budget that is transparent, fiscally responsible, and meets the needs of the state.
