President To Rename Mount McKinley

Published on August 31, 2015 by Larry Crippen

The White House announced Sunday that the Obama Administration will change the name of the highest mountain in North America from Mount Mckinley to Denali. Denali is an Athabascan name used by Alaskan navtives which means “the high one.”

The president is beginning a three-day visit to Alaska.

Conversely, Ohio Representative Bob Gibbs felt President McKinley deserved the recognition and has asked his fellow colleagues to join him to fight against what he calls the president’s “constitutional overreach.”
