Published on October 19, 2016 by Larry Crippen

At Tuesday night’s Huntsville City Council session, councilmembers considered a resolution regarding bond propositions which will be on the ballot in the November 8th election.

The resolution states, in regard to the 3 propositions for various facility improvements, “It is believed the expiring debt and additional revenue sources will allow the City to not have to increase ad valorem or utility rates for the purpose of paying for the principal and interest associated with Propositions 1,2, and 3.”

Ward #3 Councilmember Ronald Allen took issue with the resolution and addressed its presenter City Manager Matt Benoit . . . .

Several councilmembers countered Allen’s argument, among them Position #1 Councilmember At-Large Paul Davidhizar . . . .

Position #2 At-Large Councilmember Lydia Montgomery threw her support behind the propositions . . . .

Councilmembers approved the resolution.
