Beach Expansion Ribbon-cutting Ceremony to Take Place Thursday at 57th & Seawall in Galveston

Good news for Southeast Texans who take advantage of the beaches south of us in Galveston.

Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush will visit Galveston Thursday. He will preside at an 11:30 a.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony that will mark the completion of a $19.5 million beach expansion project that placed 1.2 million cubic yards of sand on the beach between 12th and 61st streets. The project began in January and was completed in April.

The Texas General Land Office was the principal partner in the project along with the Galveston Park Board, City of Galveston and the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place on the beach at 57th and Seawall Boulevard.
