The Huntsville City Council meets for a regular session this evening at six at City Hall.

Before the meeting, from 5:30 to 6:00 PM, employee scholarship recipients will be honored.

During the regular session, councilmembers will hear special presentations and proclamations regarding City of Huntsville Scholarship Recipients and Public Works Week.

Tonight’s “Consent Agenda” includes acceptance of a payment from Texas Grand Ranch #1 to transfer a 129 acre portion of the City’s Water Certificate of Convenience and Necessity to Quadvest and to authorize the City Manager to file an application at the Public Utility Commission to transfer the portion of the City’s water certificate to Quadvest.

On tonight’s “Statutory Agenda,” councilmembers will consider adopting an ordinance creating parking restrictions in the Avenues area. They will also consider authorizing the City Manager to award the construction contract for parking restrictions in the Avenues and additional paid parking adjacent to SHSU’s central campus. Councilmembers will also consider rejection of all bids for the sewer line replacement between I-45 and the Water’s Edge Lift Station project. They will also look at authorizing the City Manager to enter into a contract to purchase two portable digital signs for $22,200, setting a budget for two permanent digital signs not to exceed $156,250 and adopting an ordinance.

Also tonight, Councilmember Allen will discuss adopting an ordinance repealing ordinance 2017-10, an emergency budget amendment for the Huntsville Animal Shelter.

During the Requests for Citizen Participation portion of the meeting, Dinah Mittlestedt will discuss an ordinance related to running bamboo.
