City Council Meets Tonight

The Huntsville City Council meets for a regular session tonight at six at City Hall.

Councilmembers will discuss options for a smoking ordinance in a work session at 5:15.

The council will have several presentations and proclamations involving an HGAC resolution in honor of Mac Woodward, Neon for Neurons/Stroke Awareness Month, Parliamentary Law Month, National Book Awards Festival Month and National Public Safety Telecommunicator Week.

There will be a Public Hearing on a Development Code Amendment to amend a section on sidewalks in the Development Code.

The council will consider several agreements regarding 2016 Bond Proposition #3 Wastewater Infrastructure Projects. Councilmembers will look at entering into a lease agreement with Sealark Investments for an oil, gas and mineral lease covering lands in Walker County. They will have a “First Reading” considering adoption of an ordinance amending a section on sidewalks in the Development Code. The council will also have a “First Reading” of an ordinance regarding smoking regulations.

City Attorney Leonard Schneider will present a “First Reading” regarding an ordinance suspending the CenterPoint Energy GRIP rates and will comment on possible action to adopt a resolution proposal from Entergy regarding the application of Entergy Texas to amend its certificate of convenience and necessity to construct Montgomery County power station. Councilmember Allen will discuss adopting an ordinance to amend the Capital Improvement Projects budget.

In closed Executive Session, the council will consult with counsel on legal matters to receive legal advice on contemplated litigation on an employment claim by Kimberly Webb.
