City Council Meets Tonight

The Huntsville City Council will meet for a regular session this evening at six.

There are a number of items on tonight’s “Consent Agenda”:

Authorizing the City Manager to accept a grant under the 2017 Texas Community Development Planning Program from the Texas Department of Agriculture for $55,000 plus $145,000 in matching funds. Also, authorization to a purchase a backhoe from Mustang Caterpillar, two dump trucks from Lonestar Truck Group and a pickup from Caldwell Country for $277,250. Authorization to purchase two police equipped motorcycles from Longhorn Harley Davidson and police speed radars from Stalker Radar for $62,000. Authorization to approve a contract with Companion Life for stop loss insurance coverage for $239,200. Authorization to enter into an agreement with O’Malley Strand Associates and with Bleyl Engineering for professional engineering services.

On tonight’s “Statutory Agenda,” councilmembers will consider authorizing the City Manager to award the purchase of Street Milling/Overlay services to Smith and Company for $1,091,800.

Tonight, Councilmember Olson will discuss consideration of the sale of 1930 A Sam Houston Avenue.
