City Recognizes Hurricane Harvey Heroes Today

Published on October 17, 2017 by Larry Crippen

The City of Huntsville would like to recognize the many citizens and area residents who made such a difference during Hurricane Harvey. Many were doing their jobs or responding through formal arrangements, but as many or more were simply moved to step up and help. All deserve sincere appreciation for their efforts.

Join the Huntsville City Council and the community at City Hall (1212 Avenue M) at 5:15 p.m. today to share gratitude and recognition for emergency management staff, law enforcement/first responders, crews who made repairs/worked at the shelters/provided food service/cared for animals, utility workers, coordinators, activated National Guard, drivers, volunteers of all kinds (including those who went to help in Houston for rescues and for recovery), and donors.

Please share this message throughout your organization and with your neighbors. All are welcome! Visit their Facebook event page at to share pictures from Hurricane Harvey, they will showcase images of neighbors helping neighbors during the event. Call 936-291-5403 for more information.
