Congressional Ball Game Held Thursday in Washington

Published on June 16, 2017 by Larry Crippen

In the Congressional Baseball Game at Nationals Park in Washington last night, the Democrats beat the Republicans 11 to 2.

The game centered on showing unity in the aftermath of the shooting in Alexandria, Virginia where Congressman Steve Scalise and three others were shot, including a Capitol Police agent, lobbyist and congressional staffer. The shooter, James Hodgkinson, was taken down by police.

At the close of the game, Pennsylvania Democratic Representative Mike Doyle was presented the trophy. Congressman Doyle gave the trophy back to Republicans to be placed in Congressman Steve Scalise’s office.

Steve Scalise remained in critical condition this morning after surgeries in Med Star Washington Hospital.
