Correctional Employees Organization President Comments on Officer Safety Issues

Published on October 13, 2017 by Larry Crippen

Lance Lowry, president of the Huntsville Charter of Texas Correctional Employees, has recently spoken out about the need for a safer situation for correctional officers in TDCJ institutions.

We talked with him Thursday . . . .

Mr. Lowry said, “We need our leadership to address these problems.” He said, “There are several different things that have been going on that can contribute or be linked to it—declines in some of the offender mental health care, [and] access to different psychotropic medicines.” He went on to say, “These are controlled environments, and we need to control them.”
