Council Discusses Moving Old Farris Cabin

Published on January 04, 2017 by Larry Crippen

Last night, Huntsville City councilmembers spent a lot of time focusing on moving the historic Farris Cabin to the grounds of the Sam Houston Memorial Museum. There was concern about cost–the overall cost is limited to $60,000–but moving the structure totally intact was also a concern.

Mayor Andy Brauninger commented . .. .

Councilmember Tish Humphrey felt Cherry House Moving, the company under consideration, was a good choice . . . .

Councilmembers held an Executive Session and approved Cherry House Moving to move the cabin.

Once it is permanently placed on the grounds of the museum, the museum will maintain the structure.
