Irma Update

Published on September 12, 2017 by Larry Crippen

The aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln and two additional ships were sent to the Florida Keys by the U-S Navy to aid with search-and-rescue operations after the area was hit by Hurricane Irma.

There was much damage in the areas that Irma’s high winds hit directly, and in cities like Charleston, South Carolina and Jacksonville, Florida, the winds caused storm surge.

Irma leaves at least 11 dead in the U-S and left around 6.5 million people without electricity in five states.
