All three schools in Huntsville will be continuing into the playoffs. The Huntsville Hornets and SHSU Bearkats won their games over the weekend, while Alpha Omega dropped a close contest to Brazosport Christian.

The Hornets claimed their first District Championship since 2009 with their 20-3 win over Magnolia West. Up next for the Hornets will be a Conference 5-A division two Bi-district game against Georgetown,Friday at 7:30. The playoff game will be played at A&M Consolidated’s Tigerland Stadium in College Station. The game will be broadcast LIVE on 101.7 KSAM and streamed live world wide on ksam1017.com and Network One Sports dot com.

Meanwhile the Alpha Omega Lions fell short Friday night to Brazosport Christian 52-43. The Lions’ playoff series will begin Saturday against Bracken Christian with kickoff at 2 p.m. In San Antonio.

The SHSU Bearkats had a scare Saturday in Abilene. After a quarter of play it looked like the No. 4 Sam Houston State Bearkats would cruise to its sixth straight win. Turns out, it would not be that simple. The Bearkats squandered a 24-0 first quarter lead and needed some late-game dramatics to pull off a 44-35 win at Abilene Christian on Saturday on the road. The Bearkats are focused on gaining a berth into the FCS Championship Series with play to begin Saturday, November 25 and the Championship game to be in Frisco on January 6th.
