Monday Contractor Will Convert I-45 West Frontage Road in New Waverly to One-Way

Published on June 16, 2017 by Larry Crippen

Beginning Monday, June 19, 2017, the Texas Department of Transportation’s (TxDOT) contractor will convert the IH-45 west frontage road in New Waverly to one-way, from FM 1374 to two miles north.  This one-way conversion will be temporary and will only last from three to six months.

This temporary one-way conversion is needed to increase the safety of TxDOT’s contractor construction crews and the traveling public.  During this time the contractor will be working on replacing underground structures and rehabilitating the pavement on the frontage road.  The frontage road will return to a two-way road upon completion of this work.

This temporary one-way conversion is part of the $119 million reconstruction IH-45 project awarded to Webber, LLC.  As a reminder, there are nightly lane closures Sunday through Friday, 8pm until 5am on the main lanes of IH-45 during this construction and expansion.  This entire project began on May 1, 2017 and is estimated to take 4.5 years to complete, weather depending.  TxDOT and their contractor appreciate everyone’s patience during this construction.
