SHSU Campus Campaign to Save Energy

Published on December 07, 2017 by Larry Crippen

Recently, members of the Sam Houston State University community kicked off the Go Green campaign with a special event at the Piney Woods Residence Life facility. The campaign is designed to promote efficient energy use. Students are encouraged to save energy across campus through simple acts like turning off lights and adjusting the thermostat to recommended temperatures.

Students attending the event received t-shirts, posters and brochures with energy saving tips.

SHSU has been proactively striving to save energy on campus for a number of years. The university first partnered with Entergy Texas, Inc. in 2009 and has been working to install high-efficiency equipment with the help of the Entergy Solutions Program.

The Entergy Solutions Program has saved Texas organizations over $611 million dollars based on the lifetime energy savings of equipment installed and total incentives earned by Texas commercial partners since the introduction of the program in 2008.
