IN FOOTBALL, THE SHSU BEARKATS SAW THEIR SEASON COME TO AN ABRUPT END THIS PAST FRIDAY WITH THEIR 55-13 F-C-S SEMIFINAL LOSS TO NORTH DAKOTA STATE IN FARGO, N.D. THE KATS FINISHED THE SEASON AT 12-&-2, WHILE THE BISON ADVANCE TO THEIR 6TH NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME IN 7 YEARS. NDSU WILL FACE DEFENDING CHAMPION JAMES MADISON FOR THE F-C-S TITLE JAN. 6 IN FRISCO.

WITH THE LOCAL FOOTBALL SEASON NOW AT AN END, THE SPOTLIGHT TURNS TO BASKETBALL IN OUR AREA. IN HOOPS ACTION ON SUNDAY, THE SHSU BEARKAT WOMEN FELL TO 3-&-5 FOR THE SEASON WITH A 73-41 HOME LOSS TO TEXAS STATE AT JOHNSON COLISEUM. THE SAM WOMEN DON’T PLAY AGAIN UNTIL DEC. 27 WITH THEIR FINAL NON-CONFERENCE GAME OF THE SEASON AT LSU.

IN OTHER HOOPS, THE SHSU BEARKAT MEN REGISTERED A VICTORY OVER LITTLE ROCK ON FRIDAY TO IMPROVE TO 6-&-5. THE KATS WILL BE IN BATON ROUGE, LA., ON TUESDAY IN A 7PM TIPOFF AGAINST LSU. LASTLY, IN HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL, THE HUNTSVILLE HORNETS & LADY HORNETS WILL EACH HAVE DISTRICT 20-5A CONTESTS AGAINST MAGNOLIA ON TUESDAY, WHILE THE NEW WAVERLY BOYS & GIRLS WILL PLAY THEIR RIVALS FROM CROCKETT ON TUESDAY.
