In local football, the Huntsville Hornets will host longtime rival Brenham today at 7:30pm at Bowers Stadium in the Hornets’ regular-season home finale. Huntsville has already clinched a spot in the upcoming state playoffs, but they need to win today and again next week in the season finale against Magnolia West in order to have a chance to grab a share of the District 20-5A championship. Before today’s kickoff, the Hornets will celebrate “Senior Night” with the pre-game introductions of seniors from the football team, the marching band, the drill team, flag bearers and others involved in game night. Our live broadcast will begin about 7pm or a little earlier in order to be able to bring you those introductions. You can hear the broadcast on 101.7 KSAM & online at ksam1017.com.

The New Waverly Bulldogs will be at home this evening against Marlin in a 7:30pm kickoff at Bulldog Stadium. The ‘Dogs need a victory tonight to keep alive their slim hopes for a playoff berth. Also this evening the Alpha Omega Lions will be at home with a 7pm kickoff as they host Orange Community Christian.

The SHSU Bearkats will return to Bowers Stadium at 1:05pm Saturday for a Southland Conference matchup against Incarnate Word. The Kats are ranked No. 5 in the nation in the latest STATS F-C-S Top 25, and are seeded 6th in the just-released NCAA rankings. Saturday’s Bearkat live broadcast will begin at 12:15pm on 101.7 KSAM & the Bearkat Sports Network. Elsewhere in the Southland on Saturday, Houston Baptist will visit Nicholls, Northwestern State will be at home against Abilene Christian, No. 4-ranked Central Arkansas will be at Lamar, and 22nd-ranked McNeese State will be at home against Southeastern Louisiana.

In collegiate volleyball on Thursday, the SHSU Bearkat women defeated Lamar at Johnson Coliseum. The Kat women will finish their regular-season home schedule on Saturday when they host Stephen F. Austin at 11am.

The SHSU Bearkat baseball program has announced it will offer a 2-hour skills camp at Minute Maid Park in Houston on Nov. 18. All registration fees will support Shriners Hospitals for Children. Cost is $75 per player, and is open for kids in grades 3 through 8.
