IN HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL ON TUESDAY, THE HUNTSVILLE HORNETS IMPROVED TO 3-&-1 IN DISTRICT 20-5A ACTION WITH A 73-61 ROAD VICTORY AT BRENHAM. THE HORNETS, WHO ARE 9-&-9 OVERALL, WILL BE BACK IN ACTION FRIDAY AT HOME AGAINST MAGNOLIA WEST.

ALSO ON TUESDAY, THE HUNTSVILLE LADY HORNETS ROLLED TO AN EASY 71-44 WIN OVER THE BRENHAM CUBETTES AT PAUL BOHAN HORNET GYM. THE HUNTSVILLE GIRLS ARE NOW 5-&-1 IN DISTRICT COMPETITION, 18-&-6 OVERALL, WITH A 1ST-PLACE SHOWDOWN AT MAGNOLIA WEST COMING UP NEXT ON FRIDAY.

IN COLLEGIATE HOOPS TODAY, THE SHSU BEARKATS WILL BE SEEKING THEIR 3RD CONSECUTIVE VICTORY WHEN THEY VISIT THE ISLANDERS OF TEXAS A&M-CORPUS CHRISTI AT 7PM ON THE COAST. SAM HOUSTON LEADS THE SERIES AGAINST CORPUS WITH 17 WINS IN 26 MEETINGS. MEANWHILE, BACK AT HOME AT JOHNSON COLISEUM, THE SHSU BEARKAT WOMEN WILL HOST A&M-CORPUS IN A 6:30PM TIPOFF. THE KAT WOMEN ARE STILL SEEKING THEIR 1ST SOUTHLAND CONFERENCE VICTORY FOLLOWING 3 STRAIGHT LOSSES TO OPEN THE LEAGUE CAMPAIGN.

IN COLLEGIATE FOOTBALL, THE SHSU BEARKATS, WHO FINISHED 3RD IN THE NATIONAL F-C-S RANKINGS WHICH WERE RELEASED EARLIER THIS WEEK, PLACED A TRIO OF PLAYERS ON THE SOUTHLAND CONFERENCE ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM WHICH WAS ANNOUNCED ON TUESDAY. JUNIOR RUNNING BACK REMUS BULMER, SOPHOMORE OFFENSIVE LINEMAN ERIC DAVID, AND JUNIOR SAFETY ADRIAN CONTRERAS WERE ALL INCLUDED ON THE HONOR SQUAD.
