At Monday’s session of Walker County Commissioners Court, a serious discussion was held by Commissioners, HEARTS Veterans Museum Executive Director Tara Burnett and Walker County Emergency Management Coordinator Butch Davis. It was alleged that a FEMA employee at the site of the Storm Shelter last week reported a terroristic threat. So, the FEMA mobile unit was shut down. There was some dispute over the authenticity of the threat. However, Commissioner White pointed out the seriousness of a terroristic threat situation. There was also a dispute over who had control of the Storm Shelter facility—the County or the Veterans Museum. Commissioner Daugette suggested a committee be put together to determine what actually happened and related issues. It was suggested that the woman who made the report be at the meeting of the committee, which will consist of Judge Christian, Commissioner Kuykendall, Butch Davis and Tara Burnett. The findings of the committee meeting will be brought back to court.
