SHMM 7th Annual Photo Contest

The Sam Houston Memorial Museum will provide local & area amateur photographers with an opportunity to show off their work while competing for cash prizes with the museum’s 7th annual “Photo Contest.” The contest is open to all non-professional photographers who are interested in submitting an entry in one of the contest’s 6 categories – “Love,” “Life,” “Nature,” Big Spaces,” “Multiples” & “Man-Made.” There are no residency requirements to enter. SHSU Athletics on Twitter

In order to maintain consistent branding and to provide easy access for fans to follow their favorite teams, SHSU athletics has rolled out new Twitter handles for each sport entering the 2016-17 athletic year. The athletic department maintains the use of @Bearkat Sports, the main account for all things Sam Houston sports. With more than 12-thousand followers, the account has the biggest following in the Southland Conference and showcases coverage to all sports. The changes will not affect those currently following any one…

Free Spanish Classes

August 30 - December 20

The Huntsville Public Library will offer its always-popular free Spanish classes. The 14-week program begins Tuesday – materials will be provided. Huntsville Community Theatre- Proof

September 16 - September 25

The Huntsville Community Theatre will present its 1st production of the fall season. The show is called “Proof.” Performances are set for 7:30pm Sept. 16, 17, 23 & 24, along with matinees at 2pm Sept. 18 & 25. All performances will take place at the Old Town Theatre on 12th Street in downtown Huntsville. Tickets range for $6 to $12. 42nd Annual Fair On The Square

The Huntsville-Walker County Chamber of Commerce will host its 42nd annual “Fair on the Square” Oct. 1 in downtown Huntsville. Booth spaces are sold out, but interested parties may have their name included on a “waiting list” in case spaces become available.  The official “kick-off dance” is set for Sept. 30 in downtown, featuring Jerrett Zoch & the O-S-R Band. National Night Out
