SHSU Bearkats’ 2016 football season are now available

Season tickets for the SHSU Bearkats’ 2016 football season are now available. Season tickets for the 6 Kat home games – including the annual “Battle of the Piney Woods” contest against Stephen F. Austin at NRG Stadium in Houston – range from $110 to $275. The Sam Houston football season begins Sept. 3 at Bowers Stadium against Oklahoma Panhandle State – and will also include home games against Abilene Christian, Texas Southern, McNeese State & Central Arkansas. Head Start Child Development Center- register for 2016-17 school year

May 6 - June 30

Huntsville’s Head Start Child Development Center is currently accepting applications for the 2016-2017 school year. Children must be 3- or 4-years-old by Sept. 1, be a member of a low-income family, or be a child with special needs. Head Start offers a full-day program each weekday at no cost to families with a nutritious breakfast, lunch & snacks. Sam Houston Memorial Museum: “Miguel Covarrubias: Caricaturista.”

Huntsville’s Sam Houston Memorial Museum invites you to its new exhibition: “Miguel Covarrubias: Caricaturista.” Covarrubias was one of the foremost Mexican artists of the 20th century with important contributions in the fields of anthropology, archaeology, theater & dance. The exhibition focuses on the sophisticated caricatures that made Covarrubias famous, providing a unique window into the cultural & political culture of the 1920s & 30s. Sam Houston Memorial Museum-Blue Star Museums program

For the 6th year, the Sam Houston Memorial Museum in joining more than 2-thousand museums across America to offer free admission throughout the summer to military personnel & their families. The Senior Center of Walker County is seeking volunteers for its “Meals on Wheels” program. Meals are served Monday through Friday in Huntsville, and on Mondays & Tuesdays in rural areas. Huntsville Enrichment Activity Progam – H.E.A.P.

The annual Huntsville Enrichment Activity Progam – H.E.A.P. – is currently enrolling students for this summer. Session One is set for June 13-23 – Session Two will take place June 27-July 7. The USDA’S Farm Service Agency reminds farmers & ranchers, families & small businesses affected by flooding, high winds & hail in Texas that there are several programs which provide assistance before, during & after disasters. They include the Livestock Indemnity Program, the Emergency Assistance for Livestock, Honeybees & Farm-Raised Fish Program, the Emergency Forest Restoration Program, and the Tree Assistance Program.
