Kat Tracks Shuttle Info

October 9 - December 2

SHSU’s departments of Facilities Management and Academic Affairs has officially launched theĀ “Kat Tracks” convenience shuttle. The shuttle is providing transportation from the university campus to shopping centers on the west side of I-45 in Huntsville. The shuttle utilizes a 15-passenger bus that is available Wednesdays & Thursdays from 3-8pm and Saturdays from 10am-6pm through Dec. 2. Pick-up locations are located at the university’s Lonestar Hall and Pineywoods Hall. For more informationĀ call (936) 294-1869.

Christmas themed movies at Wynne Home Arts Center

Huntsville’s Wynne Home Arts Center invites you to its screening of several Christmas-themed movies. The next featured movie will be “A Christmas Story,” which will be shown beginning at 6pm Tuesday. This program is for ages 16 & up, and will be free with popcorn & soft drinks provided. The film will be introduced by Ralph Pease. Free Private Well-Water testing

The AgriLife Extension Service of Walker County – along with Rebuild Texas – is offering an opportunity for free private well-water sample testing in the wake of Hurricane Harvey. If you would like to have the water from your private water well tested for possible coliform or E. Coli contamination, contact the extension office. For more information call 936-435-2426.

Little Dribbler registration

Huntsville Little Dribblers is now accepting online registrations for players ages 4 through 14. Registration cost for the 1st child in a family is $75 – $65 each for additional children. In-person registration is set for 9am-12:30pm Dec. 9 at Louis Davis Gym on the campus of Huntsville Intermediate School on Highway 190 East. Skills assessments will also take place on Dec. 9. Get your walnuts

The Walker County Historical Commission is getting into the holiday spirit by giving away black walnuts. The nuts are available each Saturday at 4pm at the Gibbs-Powell House County Museum, which is located on 11th Street at Avenue ‘M’ in Huntsville. For more information call 936-436-4900.

Christmas Toy Drive

The Huntsville Volunteer Fire Department will sponsor their annual “Christmas Toy Drive.” The event is set for 10am-4pm Nov. 24 & 25 – and will take place at the Kroger store in the Ravenwood Shopping Center on I-45. Fight Night December 1st

The SHSU chapter of Sigma Chi will host its 61st annual “Fight Night” – featuring live student fights. The event will take place at Shenanigans on 11th Street in Huntsville beginning at 8pm Dec. 1. General admission & VIP tickets are available. Ticket prices range from $10 to $30. Proceeds will be donated to the Boys & Girls Club of Walker County, and to The Huntsman Cancer Institute. Annual Open House

Huntsville’s Sam Houston Statue Visitor Center & Gift Shop will host its annual Open House from 9am-5pm Dec. 7. The gift shop will offer a 25%-sale on designated selections during the event.
