Walker County Beekeepers School for Beginning Beekeeping

February 4 @ 9:00 am - May 2 @ 12:00 pm

The Walker County Beekeepers organization will host its “School for Beginning Beekeeping.” The event is set for 9am-noon Feb. 14, Feb. 28, March 28, April 11 & May 2. There is a $50 fee for membership, book & refreshments. Pre-registration is required. For more information call 295-0165.

Wynne Home Arts Center spring classes

March 16 - April 25

Huntsville’s Wynne Home Arts Center will host a variety of spring classes beginning Monday.  Classes will be offered in collage, photography, ceramics, creative writing, Mommy & me, bilingual crafts for kds, science experiments, watercolor portraits, environmental art, silk painting, movie literacy, & ceramics open studio. City of Huntsville/Texas Parks & Wildlife- Outdoor Explorer Program

April 18 - September 19

The City of Huntsville will once again join with Texas Parks & Wildlife for another series of “Outdoor Explorer” programs. You are invited to learn basic safety for biking, hiking & kayaking during the programs which will take place at Huntsville State Park. Walker County’s Head Start & Early Head Start 10th annual Field Day

April 24 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

Walker County’s Head Start & Early Head Start Child Development Centers are currently seeking sponsors for the 10th annual “Field Day.” The event is set for 9am-1pm April 24. The Field Day gives children the opportunity to display teamwork and their athletic ability while having fun. Senior Center of Walker County 1st Texas 42 Domino Tournament

April 25

The Senior Center of Walker County will host its 1st “Texas 42 Domino Tournament” with check-in at 9am and the 1st round beginning at 10am April 25. Deadline to enter the event is 2pm April 10. However, walk-ups will be welcome the day of the tournament. The tournament is limited to the 1st 40 teams. Registration fee is $25 per person. For more information call 295-6151.

Major League Baseball’s Pitch, Hit & Run

April 25 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

The City of Huntsville invites boys & girls ages 7-14 to compete in Major League Baseball’s “Pitch, Hit & Run” program. Youngsters will have the opportunity to showcase their baseball or softball skills and attempt to advance to the sectional, regional & national competitions at no charge. The local competition is set for 10am-1pm April 25 at Kate Barr Ross Park on Highway 75 North. For more information call 294-5725.

2nd annual Mother of Pearl Brunch & Service Auction

Huntsville’s Junior Service League will host its 2nd annual “Mother of Pearl Brunch & Service Auction” for women, their moms & loved ones. Huntsville Police Officers Association- 1st Annual Five-0 5K/1-Mile Run

May 2 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

The Huntsville Police Officers Association – in conjunction with the Inspector General Employee Foundation – will host its 1st “Five-0 5K/1-Mile Run” – a police-themed obstacle course/color run. The event is set for 9am May 2 at Kate Barr Ross Park next to the City of Huntsville Service Center on Highway 75 North. Entry fees range from $15 to $35. Refreshments will be served.
