The “Hornet Buddies” program is looking for new members. The “Hornet Buddies” consist of Huntsville ISD students from kindergarten through 6th grade who support as a group the Huntsville Hornet football team. Enrollment fee is $25 per member. The 4th annual “Great Muddy Escape” is set for Oct. 25 at Gen. Sam’s Off-Road Park. This adventure race is a way to promote health & fitness for the Huntsville & Walker County communities, and is a fundraiser for the Huntsville Family YMCA and for the Huntsville Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. The Department of Art at SHSU invites you the opening of “Anything That Has A Front” – an exhibition featuring works by Avril Lavery & Christopher Lavery. The Huntsville-Walker County Chamber of Commerce will host its 1st “Little Mr. & Miss Fair-on-the-Square” contest. The contest is open to children ages 5 through 7 who are residents of Walker County. The Walker County Master Gardeners organization will host its 5th annual “Butterfly Festival & Fall Plant Sale” from 8am to 2pm Oct. 18. There will be a variety of activities for children & adults. The plant sale will feature an extensive selection of natives, fruit & nut trees, roses, perennials, shade-loving varieties, herbs, day lillies and a wide variety of seeds.
