SHSU Bearkat Football Season Opener

September 4

Tickets are now on sale for the SHSU Bearkats’ football season opener Sept. 5 in Lubbock. The Kats will face Texas Tech in the 1st game of the season. Ticket prices for Sam Houston fans will be $35 per person plus a processing fee. The tickets will be for seats in the SHSU visitors’ section at the Texas Tech stadium. (936) 294-1725

Health & Wellness Fair

The Huntsville-Walker County Chamber of Commerce is making plans for its “Health & Wellness Fair” scheduled for Sept. 22 at the Walker County Storm Shelter in Huntsville. This is an opportunity for health-related & retail businesses to reach out to the community. The fair will provide shopping, health-care information and entertainment. Sam Houston National Forest Day of Volunteer Service

September 26

A day of volunteer service across the country will be celebrated locally Sept. 26. You’re encouraged to assist others by helping to renovate an interpretive trail in the Sam Houston National Forest. Projects will include: brush cutting, clearing of pond shorelines, pollinator site preparation, bench installation, pier repair, sign installation,; planting seeds, and building & installing bat houses. “Smokey Bear” will also be on hand. Trinity Community Fair

The 66th “Trinity Community Fair” is set for Oct. 2 & 3 at the Trinity Community Center on Highway 19 in Trinity. The event will feature competition in baking, home canning, needlecraft, produce, horticulture, applied arts & crafts, and fine arts. A grand parade is set for Oct. 3. Youth livestock judging & an auction will also be part of the festivities. And you won’t want to miss the carnival beginning Oct. 1, or the presentation of the queen’s court…
