Pre-Fair on the Square concert with Jerry Diaz & Hanna’s Reef

The Huntsville-Walker County Chamber of Commerce will host its Pre-Fair on the Square concert  beginning at 8pm Oct. 3. The event will feature the live music of Jerry Diaz & Hanna’s Reef, and will take place in the Fair’s Beer Garden in downtown Huntsville. Huntsville-Walker County Chamber of Commerce “Senior Health Fair”

The Huntsville-Walker County Chamber of Commerce will host its “Senior Health Fair” from 9am to 2pm Sept. 23. The program will take place at the Walker County Storm Shelter on Highway 75 North in Huntsville. This event will be a great opportunity to learn about choices available in health care, assisted living facilities, clubs & volunteer opportunities, and fun ways to stay healthy & active. Walker County Master Gardeners 5th annual “Butterfly Festival & Fall Plant Sale”

The Walker County Master Gardeners organization will host its 5th annual “Butterfly Festival & Fall Plant Sale” from 8am to 2pm Oct. 18. There will be a variety of activities for children & adults. The plant sale will feature an extensive selection of natives, fruit & nut trees, roses, perennials, shade-loving varieties, herbs, day lillies and a wide variety of seeds. The event will take place at the Master Gardeners greenhouse next to the county extension office on Tam Road at Highway 75 North in Huntsville. For more information call 435-2426.

Huntsville Police Officers Association “Team Roping Fundraising event”

The Huntsville Police Officers Association will host its annual “Team Roping Fundraising event” Oct. 11. The competition will take place at the Walker County Fairgrounds arena on Highway 30 West. There is a $25 entry fee for each competitor.  For more information call 291-5497.

Hornet Scramble Golf Tournament

The Huntsville High School Golf Booster Club will host its 12th annual “Hornet Scramble” golf tournament Sept. 27 at Raven Nest Golf Club. Registration begins at 8am, with a shotgun start at 9am. Single-golfer entry is $100 – entry for teams of 4 is $350. Sponsorships are available for $100. For more information call 295-3385.

Walker County Extension Office Pasture/Forage Workshops

The Walker County Extension Office will host “Pasture/Forage Workshops” at 6:30pm Tuesday and Oct. 2. Subjects discussed during the workshops will include basic principles of management required to successfully establish pastures & hay fields. Registration is $10 per person. RSVPs are helpful. 2nd annual Haunted Hayride”

The City of Huntsville is looking for volunteers to assist in its 2nd annual “Haunted Hayride” event which is set for Oct. 25. C.A.S.A. Superhero Event

The 2014 C.A.S.A. “Superhero Event” is set for Oct. 4 at SHSU’S Bowers Stadium on Bowers Boulevard. C.A.S.A. (Court-Appointed Special Advocates) will host a 5K run, a 1-mile run and a free kids’ 100-yard dash. Pre-registration is recommended.
