The 50-year reunion for the Huntsville High School graduating class of 1964 is set for July 18 & 19. The event will take place in conjunction with the school’s Ex-Student Association’s “all-school reunion. The Walker County Area Go-Texan committee will host its annual Crawfish Boil & Catfish Fry beginning at 5pm May 3. Food will be served from 5 to 7 with all-you-can-eat crawfish, catfish, potatoes, corn & fries. Music & dancing will take place from 8-10pm. The event will take place at the Walker County Fairgrounds. Pre-sale tickets only….no tickets will be available at the door. Ticket prices are $35 for individuals…a table of 8 is available for $250. Funds raised will be used to help provide scholarships for the youth of Walker County. This will be a B-Y-O-B event. For more information, call 662-0211.
The Walker County/Huntsville Crimestoppers organization will host their 2nd Annual “Strike Out Crime” bowling tournament. The event is set for April 26 with registration beginning at 11am at Huntsville Lanes on the west feeder road of I-45 in Huntsville. Entry fee is $25 per person – or $100 for a 4-bowler team. The Huntsville chapter of LULAC – along with Walker County Unidos – will host a “Cinco de Mayo Festival” from 10am to 8pm May 3. The celebration will take place in downtown Huntsville at the Walker County Annex at the corner of University Avenue & 13th Street. The American Legion Auxiliary of Huntsville’s Post No. 95 will host an Easter Egg Hunt beginning at 11am Saturday. The event will take place on the grounds of the Legion on American Legion Drive just off FM 2821. Children are asked to supply their own basket.
