    Just Couldn’t Make It

The Hornets slugged it out with Willis for one half Friday. But when the Wildkats finally landed a couple of potent uppercuts, then followed those with painful body blows, the Hornets crumbled in a 37-14 loss to their neighbors from the south in the regular-season finale at Bowers Stadium…

    The Streak Ends…

Trailing by three points at halftime, the Hornets said they felt pretty good. An hour or so later, they didn’t look so good.

After the Panthers of Kingwood Park ran off and left Huntsville 34-14, the Hornets were smarting a bit.

“We can’t lose our minds like we did tonight. We can’t lose control,” Huntsville defensive end Steve York said. “We’ve got to watch what we do out on the field and tonight we fell apart. We fell apart and started running our mouths.”

    The Streak Continues

Coming off their biggest win in the last couple of years, the Hornets could have let up a little Friday. It would have been understandable had Huntsville limped through a homecoming game against a struggling and much smaller squad from New Caney.

Huntsville’s defense did not let up in the least. The Hornets dominated New Caney, holding the Eagles to 55 total yards of offense in a 23-0 Huntsville victory at Bowers Stadium…

    Must Stay Focused

It doesn’t get much simpler for the Hornets from this point forward.

Take care of business in the next three weeks and Huntsville will be headed back to the playoffs for a fourth straight fall.

Deadlocked in a five-way tie for first place in District 18-4A, the Hornets know that a couple of more wins will clinch another trip to the postseason….

    From Frustrating to Fabulous?

What began as one of the Hornets’ most frustrating seasons may turn out to be one of Huntsville’s most rewarding campaigns ever.

    Hornets Continue Their Winning Streak

Despite recording 12 penalties for a loss of 111 yards, the Hornets never lost control in Friday night’s 13-7 win over Humble.

Mistakes didn’t negatively affect the Hornets or their motivation to beat Humble, which was evident in the postgame celebration at Bowers Stadium.

The victory tied Huntsville (3-1) for the top spot in District 18-4A, along with Humble, Kingwood Park, Willis and Summer Creek…

Hornets Looking Good After 2nd Win

The Hornets set the tone all right. On Friday night at Don Ford Stadium, Huntsville executed its game plan perfectly, for a little more than a half at least.

The Hornets jumped all over the Porter Spartans in the first quarter, scoring three touchdowns in a six-minute span and blowing out to a 21-0 lead. After senior Markey Thomas busted a 49-yard touchdown run early in the second half, the Hornets seemed to shut off their engines….

    Hornets Continue Their Hard-Luck Season

The Hornets made this one interesting. Twice, they rallied in the second half Friday and got within striking distance of Summer Creek.

But Huntsville’s hard-luck season continued in the District 18-4A opener, as the Bulldogs held on and beat the Hornets 31-24 at Turner Stadium…
