At Tuesday’s meeting of the Huntsville City Council, FEMA’s funding of a tornado shelter at Emancipation Park which would also be used as a facility for the Walker County Boys and Girls Club was discussed.
The City is considering a $1.8 million dollar amendment for funds from the Texas Department of Emergency Management–FEMA for the building. If approved, the City would supply matching funds only in in-kind services, with no cash outlay, while the Boys and Girls Club would be responsible for $350,000 dollars in matching funds.
Boys and Girls Club President Jack Olsta explained . . . .
The council will hold a workshop on the matter next Tuesday, September 25th, at 7:15 at City Hall.
