Luke Bryan, Kellie Pickler, Zac Brown Band and David Nail are trading in their guitars and cowboy boots for baseball bats and cleats, at least for one night. They will all have a part in Major League Baseball’s All-Star Game and surrounding activities in Kansas City next week.

Luke will sing the National Anthem before Tuesday night’s All-Star game which will air live on FOX, while Kellie will perform “God Bless America” during the 7th inning stretch. Zac Brown Band will take the field not to play ball but to perform during the Home Run Derby which takes place on Monday, reports The Boot.

“To have the opportunity to perform the National Anthem at the All-Star game is really special for me,” Luke said. “I have a lot of dear friends in Major League Baseball and a lot of people I’ve met over the years and so many little connections, and some of those guys will be there rooting me on to sing the National Anthem. The Anthem is always pretty tough thing to sing, and you never want to mess it up, and it’s always a really personal thing to me. I’m going to really enjoy being up there, being at the All-Star game, taking the family and kids.”

It’s David Nail who will be suiting up to play ball. He will play in the Taco Bell All Star Legends Celebrity Softball Game on July 8 at Kauffman Stadium. Hall of Famers Ernie Banks, Andre Dawson, Rollie Fingers, Ozzie Smith and Mike Piazza, Family Man star Eric Stonestreet, Mad Men’s Jon Hamm, Glee’s Chord Overstreet, Kansas City Royals George Brett, Bo Jackson and Mike Sweeney, US National Soccer Team captain Carlos Bocanegra, US Softball Gold Medalist Jennie Finch and Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Matt Cassell will also play.

“Those guys don’t mess around,” David said “They get on the field to play hard – and they do. I know I’m honored to get out there with those folks and play softball… because they’re not joking around, and that’s the best kind of game.”

David, a former college baseball player, displayed his competitive nature and athleticism during the City of Hope Celebrity Softball Game in Nashville during CMA Music Festival, resulting in a broken finger and detached tendon. While he’s excited to play the game, he’s looking forward to be able to take the field in his home state.

“What makes this even better for me is it’s being played in my home state of Missouri,” he said. “It’s like coming home, playing major league ball – which was a dream of mine – and still getting to make my music. It’s everything I love about who I am and where I’m from.”

Fans can catch the All Star Legends Celebrity Softball Game on ESPN immediately after the Home Run Derby  on Monday, July 9. The Derby starts at 8 p.m. Eastern while the softball game is slated to start at 10:30 p.m. Eastern.
