Turkey might be the centerpiece of most Thanksgiving dinners but it’s not the dish Justin Moore and his family love the most. While turkey might be on the table, it’s a side dish that brings the Moore family together.
“We always have turkey and dressing,” says Justin. “The dressing, I think is, to us, more important than the turkey. We’ve got a family recipe that’s really, really good.”
According to Justin, his family doesn’t have any out of the ordinary Thanksgiving traditions. There is a tradition he’d like to borrow from one of his friends, however. “The day before (Thanksgiving) he gets a bunch of all his buddies over and they bring their turkeys and everybody fries their turkeys for the next dayand drinks beer,” he said. “So I’d love to start something like that. That’s right up my alley.”
Thomas Rhett and his new wife Lauren are preparing to celebrate their first Thanksgiving as a married couple. The newlyweds have spent a lot of time debating where they’ll end up for dinner. “I have family all over America and Lauren’s family is home,” he said. “We’ll probably stay in town for Thanksgiving and travel before and after.”
Once the couple figures out where they’re having dinner, Thomas will turn his attention to eating. “My favorite thing about Thanksgiving is definitely the dressing,” he said. “My grandmothers — both my grandparents in Valdosta and in Knoxville — both make the best dressing in the entire planet. I look forward to eating that and falling asleep every year.”
Both Justin and Thomas will have plenty of opportunities to work off all that dressing they’ll be consuming over Thanksgiving. After a brief break for the holiday, Justin will return to the road with Eric Church’s Blood, Sweat and Beers Tour while Thomas will rejoin Chris Young’s Liquid Neon Tour.
