With summertime just around the corner, country superstar Kenny Chesney is putting the finishing touches on the Brothers of the Sun Tour with Tim McGraw, which also features opening acts Jake Owen and Grace Potter and The Nocturnals. During a recent rehearsal at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, Kenny sat down with GAC’s Storme Warren for Conversations from the Road: Kenny Chesney, premiering Sunday, June 3, 2 p.m./Eastern on Great American Country (GAC). The tour is aptly named as Kenny says Tim is like the brother he never had.
The multi-platinum star says his number one responsibility to fans is to make a “lasting impression” every time he takes the stage, building his shows with “raw energy and passion” and acknowledges he has the best summer job in the world. “Some nights I go out there and the love I feel from the audience from the start is just like an avalanche. It’s like I don’t have to work for it,” Kenny says. “Some nights it feels like I have to go after them a bit before I can bring them in. Those nights, that’s an experience like no other, and it makes me love what I do.”
It takes a small army to keep a tour of this size humming and viewers will get a special behind-the-scenes glimpse of several production areas including ‘guitar world,’ the side stage wing where all guitars are kept tuned and at the ready, ‘video world’ where all of the show’s graphics are stored and played back, command central for the live video coverage of each concert and even a little visit with Marly, the 235 pound marlin Kenny caught years ago. The singer knows the importance of surrounding himself with people he trusts and many on his team have been with him since the beginning.
“I’ve been very blessed to have a lot of great friends both in and out of the business,” he says.
GAC is the media sponsor for the Brothers of the Sun tour.
