“Coats & Cash” Event Helps Vets

Published on December 13, 2013 by Larry Crippen

Last Sunday through Wednesday in Huntsville, Melvin White VFW Post 5871 vets David Lanoue and Jeff Clark braved the cold weather and lived in their cars and a dumpster on 11th Street for the “Coats & Cash” drive to collect coats, blankets and cash for homeless veterans.

We caught up with Commander Lanoue Thursday as he was on his way to the Temple VA hospital . . . .

Lanoue said they were going to do it again next year, but maybe a little earlier so the homeless vets can get the coats and blankets before the cold hits.
