Walker County Commissioners will meet at the courthouse at nine this morning for a regular session.
Jail Project Manager Eddie Smith will present an update on construction on the new County Jail.
Local Election Director Diana McRae will discuss the possible approval of a new location for the Precinct #201 polling place due to redistricting. She will also present the certification of petition for a Local Option Election to legalize the sale of all alcoholic beverages including mixed beverages in Justice Precinct #2.
County Auditor Patricia Allen will talk about approval of a payment to Burns Architecture for $16,000 for service through June 28th, and approval of payment to the jail construction company Sedalco for $1,949,830 from budgeted funds.
County Purchasing Agent Mike Williford will discuss approval of an agreement with DPS for release of drivers’ records at no cost to Walker County, a request for proposal for inmate telephone services for the new jail which will be a revenue contract and will not require any one-time or ongoing funds from the County, and possible approval of renewal of property coverage for Walker County through TAC for $55,000 from budget funds.
County Judge Danny Pierce will take a look at any need for a possible “Burn Ban,” and discuss possible approval of a local option election for alcoholic beverages in Justice Precinct #2 based on sufficient signatures.
Administrative Assistant Sherri Pegoda will talk about approval of Texas DMV optional fees.
Precinct #4 Commissioner Tim Paulsel will discuss a tax abatement for the Chemex company.
And, Commissioners will hold a budget workshop.
