Walker County Commissioners held a public hearing on the proposed budget Tuesday morning which includes a raise in the tax rate to 67.78 cents per $100 taxable assessed valuation.
No citizens showed up to express an opinion at the hearing. There were, however, many citizens at previous meetings.
The budget will raise more revenue from taxes than last year’s budget by $1.6 million which is a 10.7% increase from last year’s budget. Tax from new property added to the tax roll this year is around $300,000.

Precinct #2 Commissioner Ronnie White registered his opposition to the proposed budget and tax rate . . . .
The tax rate and budget will be considered for approval at next Monday’s meeting of Commissioners.
