Walker County Commissioners will meet at the courthouse for a regular session at nine this morning.
They’ll hear an update on the construction of the new County Jail and receive departmental reports.
Juvenile Services Director Julie Saumell will discuss moving money from the detention fund to purchase new computers, a copier, and office furniture.
From Agri-Life Extension Meredith Henry will have the preliminary report of adult potentially preventable hospitalizations data and will discuss the possible renewal of a grant with State Health Services contract for Potentially Preventable Hospitalizations Initiative.
Walker County Emergency Management Coordinator Butch Davis will make a presentation on the formation of a County VOAD, or Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster, and discuss an Interlocal Cooperation Act Agreement between Walker County and Hardin County for short-term shelter during a mandatory evacuation.
Commissioners’ Court will have a public hearing on Creation of a Tax Abatement Reinvestment Zone Number One and following the hearing consider approval.
Commissioner White will discuss several Right-of-Way approvals.
They will also have a budget workshop and review of policies.
Commissioners will also hold a public hearing in the Commissioners’ Courtroom in the courthouse at 5:30 this afternoon on a proposal to increase taxes.
