The City Council will recognize two local teachers and their classes on Tuesday, December 3rd, with a proclamation in honor of their participation in an educational series on all levels of U-S government.
Susan Fritz and Nicole Clark, elementary teachers at Faith Lutheran School, led their students through several key areas of candidate and electoral processes.
City Secretary Lee Woodward said, “Thanks to their teachers’ unique and enterprising efforts, the students of Fritz and Clark explored the political landscape, participating in several mock exercises including campaigning, registering to vote, voting at a polling place, preparing and using official ballots and voting in a voting booth.”
The City Secretary’s office actively supports voter education for all residents, especially the youth of Huntsville. Periodically, the office holds “Local Government Day” events for local students, and interested teachers are encouraged to contact Lee Woodward at (936) 291-5403 for more information.
