(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that’s happening with country music artists behind the scenes and
out of the spotlight.)
You probably already have a favorite picked out to win this year’s Academy of Country Music
Awards entertainer of the year, right? So you should probably use that passion to get
yourself a job as the ACM’s “fannouncer” (a term I just made up for “fan who announces”). All you have to do is upload
a video of yourself enthusiastically announcing the name of the artist you think should win. The deadline is Monday (Feb.
11) at 5 p.m. ET. Just to get the ball rolling, look back at the ACM’s entertainers of the past 10 years: Taylor
Swift, Carrie Underwood, Kenny
Chesney and Toby Keith. So think big. But then again, keep in mind
that entertainer of the year — just like the ACM’s new artist of the year prize — is a fan-voted one. So anything is possible
and, really, anyone could win. Especially when you consider the steadfast loyalty of country fans.
