OFFSTAGE: Kelly Clarkson: "I Refuse to Be Bullied"

out of the spotlight.)

Music mogul Clive Davis, 80, has written a memoir called The Soundtrack of My Life,
but one person thinks his soundtrack is way off. Kelly Clarkson took
to Twitter on Tuesday (Feb. 19) to set
the record straight.
“So I just heard Clive Davis is releasing a memoir and spreading false information about me and my
music. I refuse to be bullied, and I just have to clear up his memory lapses and misinformation for myself and for my fans.
It feels like a violation. Growing up is awesome because you learn you don’t have to cower to anyone — even Clive Davis,”
Clarkson rants. She goes on to refute his stories about her hit songs “Since
U Been Gone”
and “Because of You”
and her My December album. Since Clarkson remarks that Davis’ “stories and songs are mixed up” and made the remark
about his memory lapses, maybe she’s trying to cut him some slack because of his age. At the end of her explanation, Clarkson
say she loves her job, her music, her fans and her label. It’s no surprise that after bad-mouthing Clarkson in the book, Davis
didn’t include any Clarkson tunes on the custom playlist that he put together for Girl singers Alicia Keys, Patti
Smith, Whitney Houston, Janis Joplin and Aretha Franklin all made the list of his favorite 12 tracks.
