OFFSTAGE: The Science of Taylor Swift’s Cat-Eye Look

Taylor Swift
(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that’s happening with country music artists behind the scenes and
out of the spotlight.)

You might think Taylor Swift just
randomly applies eyeliner, but you’d be wrong. It sounds like there’s almost a science to how she accomplishes her artistic
signature cat-eye look. “It’s all about getting the right angle,” she
explains to People magazine.
“My one tip about how to do it right is to take the angle of which direction your
bottom lash line is going and follow the angle up from that. I like the pens. If I’m gonna smudge out my eye, though, I’ll
do a pencil. And also, you have to get really close to your lash line.” She also said she loves a red lip and uses lip stain
more than lipstick plus a liner. “If you get a good [stain], you don’t really need a liner,” she said. Style wise, Swift says
she has grown up since her last tour. The current look she is obsessed with is the outfit she wears when she starts her shows
— black high-waisted shorts, a kind of lace oxford shirt, sparkly red oxford shoes and a black hat.
