(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that’s happening with country music artists behind the scenes and
out of the spotlight.)
I hardly have room in my television schedule to take on one more reality show, but here’s
why I’m going to try to make Dancing With the Stars a priority, starting with Monday’s (March 18) show — two country
singers and one born-again virgin. This, I’ve got to see.
Pickler: She’s way too nice to go all Tonya Harding on her competition, so it’ll be good to see how a genuine sweetheart
does on the show. She told CMT Radio she wants to see everyone do well. “I’m not the kind of person that’s going to trip someone
or wants you to mess up. I think that is evil and I think it is wrong to be that way,” she said. “But I’m not even competitive
at all really — I’m competitive with myself.” Her partner is Julianne
Hough‘s brother Derek, so I’m sure he’ll be a solid influence on Pickler’s dancing.
It’s been a tough, tough few months for her and husband Cactus Moser, so I think she has a really healthy YOLO (you only live
once) attitude about the show. People have asked her if she’s nervous about falling, and she just says, “I’m like, if I do,
I’m gonna fall brilliantly.” Her candor and newly honed dance skills should be fun to watch.
3. Sean Lowe: He’s not
a country singer, and he’s not related to Rob Lowe. Still, I cannot wait to watch him dance. Lowe captured the heart of almost
every living, breathing woman twice — once when he was rejected by Emily Maynard on The Bachelorette (a huge mistake,
by the way) and again when he proposed to Catherine Giudici on The Bachelor. The Dallas native is an insurance agent,
a former college football player and a born-again virgin. There’s no way of knowing how any of that will affect his dancing,
but I’m certainly going to be glued to my TV to see how he does.
