Father Arrested for Abandoning or Endangering

Published on November 04, 2013 by Larry Crippen

Twenty-five-year-old SHSU student Jonathan Nelson was arrested for abandoning or endangering a child Friday after his 3-year-old son was found wandering around a construction project around 11:30 in the morning at Highway 19 and Bearkat Boulevard. A press release was sent to local media.

HPD and Child Protective Services had the child in custody for about four hours and were unable to locate his parents before his father arrived at police headquarters.

According to Nelson’s statement to HPD, he was sleeping when the child walked out of the house in the 200 block of Bearkat Boulevard.

CPS escorted the child to a Houston airport to be flown to his mother who lives in another state and has primary custody.
