FSA County Committee Nominations

Published on June 20, 2013 by Larry Crippen

The executive director of the Brazos/Grimes/Walker County USDA Farm Service, Jessica Gonzalez has anounced that county committee election nominations began this month. The deadline for nominations is August 1st, and ranchers, farmers, and landowners are encouraged to nominate candidates to be on their local FSA committee.

Committee members serve a three-year term. They are tasked with making decisions on FSA disaster, conservation, commodity and price support programs, and other federal farm program issues. County committees are made up of three to 11 members.

Producers may be self-nominated, or they may nominate others. Organizations that represent minority and women farmers and ranchers may also participate in the nomination process.

For more information, contact the Brazos/Grimes/Walker County FSA office at 979-846-4814 or go online to fsa.usda.gov/elections.
