Wednesday, the HISD Board of Trustees voted unanimously to lift the hold on pay increases for its employees.
Following two years of salaries that were frozen since the district lost $4.2 million in annual revenue, the Texas legislature restored $3.8 billion to public schools. Estimates project HISD will receive a little under $2 million.
Administrators and teachers will get a minimum of $1,000 in step increases. District employees who are hourly will realize at least 25 cent increases to their wages.
It’s been estimated that approximately 80 percent of district teachers will get $2,750 in salary increases in 2013-14.
