The City of Huntsville conducted a successful maintenance process on its water distribution system during October, and the staff would like to thank all residents for their cooperation and patience during the process.
According to Water Services Superintendent Joyce Hubbard, the disinfectant adjustment, which primarily entailed water main flushing with concentrated chlorine, resulted in very favorable residuals and cleaner water for area residents.
Hubbard said, “The disinfection process we completed in October, referred to as a chlorine burn, was hugely successful.” She said, “The results are in line with what we hoped for, and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has commended us on the effort.
She said, “We expect citizens will notice improved water quality as a result of this process.”
Hubbard said the City plans to continue the treatment on an annual basis.
