The City of Huntsville Planning and Zoning Commission met last night at City Hall, and they voted to split Huntsville Fire Department #2 and the Military Reserve Building into separate lots.
Concerns were raised about the Reserve Building sharing a Sam Houston Avenue access with the Fire Department if the building were to become a nightclub, which might create issues with the shared access easement. Community and Development Director Aron Kulhavy informed Commmission members that any business that would be next to the fire station facility would be required to have on-site parking, and parking is not permitted in the shared access agreement.
The recommendation will come before the council in two readings before possible approval.
The P&Z Commission also voted to maintain the existing Development Code for regulations restricting the height of business signs along I-45.
