At this week’s regular Huntsville City Council session, Public Works Director Carol Reed filled councilmembers in on the completion process of a new well, Well #21, in Huntsville.
Ms. Reed said construction on the new well began last May. She said they had lost a well around three years ago. She also said the majority of our water comes from the TRA plant, but she felt it was “essential to keep our groundwater sources consistent and available” because of the times repairs are needed to be made to the 30-inch water line from the TRA plant.
Ms. Reed said they’ll begin testing the well system during the first or second week in August . . . .
Wednesday morning the roof was poured for a 1.4 million gallon clear well which will be used to store water before being sent on to the city. It’s part of the expansion and improvement plan for the Huntsville Regional Water Treatment Plant. According to a report, the plant expects to produce water from the clear well in February 2014. It’s expected the whole project will be completed by next summer.
