Shooter Training Exercise on SHSU Campus Tuesday

The Texas Department of Criminal Justice’s Office of Inspector General along with the Walker County Sheriff’s Office, Huntsville Police Department, and Sam Houston State University Police Department participated in Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT) Tuesday afternoon in Huntsville in the Smith-Hutson Building on the SHSU campus.

The media was invited to get a closer look at how officers train to respond to active shooter situations . . . .


We asked Huntsville Police Chief Kevin Lunsford what he wanted his officers to carry away from the exercise . . . .


TDCJ Public Information Officer Jason Clark was also there. We asked him how TDCJ was involved in the training exercise . . . .
