Special Memorial Planned for West Plant Explosion Victims

A special memorial ceremony for firefighers and first responders who lost their lives in the fertilizer plant explosion in West, Texas will be held Thursday at 2 PM at the Ferrell Center on the Baylor University campus in Waco.

Wednesday, at least 14 people were killed in an explosion in the West Fertilizer plant–200 more were injured. According to West Mayor Tommy Muska, 10 of the 14 people who died were first responders.

Sunday, the office of the state fire marshall reported that all fires at the scene of the explosion had been put out, and the fertilizer tanks which were left did not pose a danger. The investigation into how the fire started continues.
