According to a story on KBTX, the Better Business Bureau of Brazos Valley has released to the media that certain automated phone calls that claim they are from Prosperity Bank and seek personal information are a scam.
Basically, during the automated scam call, the potential victim is told that their Prosperity Bank credit card has been locked and that they need to dial “1” to have it unlocked . Next, it asks for a 16-digit card number.
According to the Better Business Bureau’s Bill McGuire, banks will never ask for that type of personal information.
Contact your bank if you receive this type of call.
