City Seeks Bids For New Sidewalks

Published on August 07, 2014 by Larry Crippen

At this week’s Huntsville City Council session, sidewalk projects that the City is getting ready to bid were discussed. CIP Manager Mike Goebel said, “We have two sidewalks that we want to install. They’re going to be brick pavers. One is on Sam Houston Avenue between 12th and 13th.”

He presented a slide of a raised sidewalk on Sam Houston that he is going to replace. He also showed a slide of an area on 13th, where he will “put a piece of sidewalk.” And nearby, he will use brick pavers in the project. There is also a boardwalk in the area he “would like to connect to.” It’s near the edge of the Town Creek bridge.

They’re also going to install brick pavers on University between 11th and 12th Streets.

Goebel addressed the costs . . . .

Both projects will be nightwork from 7 PM to 7AM so there is no business interruption.
