Commissioners’ Court Holds Budget Workshop Monday

Commissioners held a discussion on the budget during a scheduled workshop Monday morning at their regular meeting.

County Auditor Patricia Allen told commissoners that regarding the certified values that her department “did receive certified values from the Appraisal District on the 26th.” She added, however, that Assistant Chief Appraiser Stacey Poteet “has not had time to calculate the effective tax rate yet.” Ms. Allen told commissioners, “We are hoping to have that for you Tuesday or Wednesday at the latest . . . .”

She passed along more information in regard to the issue . . . .


Ms. Allen added that she did receive the information from the appraisal district that “there are still about 370 properties that qualified in the past for ag and timber exemptions that did not meet the deadline for filing those requests for exemptions.” She said some may be heard from at a later date.

County Auditor Allen also mentioned that there had been new growth . . . .


Ms. Allen said more information will be brought before commissioners at their next meeting. They will meet this Wednesday.
