Commissioners’ Court Meets This Morning At Nine

Walker County Commissioners will meet for a regular session at nine this morning the courthouse.

Comissioners will discuss approving a $2,000 payment to the Walker County Historical Commission for a budgeted match of projects to improve the Gibbs Powell House Museum.

Tax Assessor – Collector Diana McRae will discuss for approval the appointment of Election Judges for the November 4th General Election, the purchase of the HART Absentee Processing System application paid from the election services contract fund, and a request for the court to pay for subsequent annual maintenance of the application.

Walker County Emergency Coordinator Butch Davis will seek approval in applying for the Texas Division of Emergency Management Fiscal Year 2015 Hazardious Materials Preparedness Grant application on behalf of the Local Emergency Planning Committee.

County Clerk Kari French and County Maintenance Director Ken Nabors will talk about approval of the project agreement for the TDCJ Huntsville Unit to clean and maintain the courthouse grounds.

Purchasing Agent Mike Williford will discuss awarding the ADA Door Opener project at the Courthouse to McCaffety Electric Company for $11,650 to be paid from budgeted funds.

Commmisioners will vote on a motion to propose a tax rate of $.6589 per $100 assessed value for the 2014 tax year to be voted on at the September 8th Commissioners Meeting.

Commissioners will also discuss approving a budget and tax rate adoption calendar and vote on a motion to set September 8th as the public hearing date for the Fiscal Year 2014-15 budget.

They will also hold a Budget Workshop.
