District Accountability Ratings In For HISD

Published on August 11, 2014 by Larry Crippen

On Friday, August 8, 2014, the Texas Education Agency released the campus and district accountability ratings. These ratings are based on the performance of HISD students on the STAAR and STAAR End of Course (EOC) tests, Graduation Rates, and Postsecondary Readiness from the 2013-2014 school year.

Huntsville ISD and its individual campuses MET STANDARD on 28 of the 31 index targets set by the State.

The state accountability system is very complicated. Each campus must achieve an established proficiency level on multiple indexes to be considered MET STANDARD. If the campus falls below the established criteria on any one of the indexes the potential of receiving the higher rating is lost.

Huntsville ISD says they acknowledge the fact that there is work to be done to improve student performance on the state accountability measures. They say the District is committed to implementation of systems that will yield students that are adequately prepared for their postsecondary opportunities.
