Monday night the HISD Board of Trustees met to take a look at holding a bond election and giving better pay to local teachers.
Following discussion, the board agreed that the best move would be to hold the bond election next year. No exact date has been set.
It was reported that during a recent Texas Association of School Boards conference in Corpus Christi attended by some board members that they learned, according to statistics, bond elections do not usually pass when held in the same year as an election for governor.
The board is also examining raising pay for HISD teachers as an incentive for them to stay in Huntsville.
