Main Street Program Strategic Session Held

Published on September 04, 2014 by Larry Crippen

The City of Huntsville welcomed State Main Street Coordinator Debra Drescher on August 28th for a special strategic planning session.

According to Main Street Coordinator Lindsay Lauher, members of the Main Street Advisory Board, the Historic Preservation Commission and the program’s four sub-committees were invited to attend and contribute.

Ms. Lauher said, “As part of a free service provided by the state Main Street organization to designated local programs, Debra Drescher worked with a group of 12 representatives to review our current work plan for the 2013-14 year,” Lauher said. “This session was truly invaluable to our program and our city.”

During the planning session, Ms. Drescher led a discussion which touched on the Huntsville Main Street Program’s strengths and weaknesses and changes in the direction of the program due to the integration of historical preservation. She also provided insight from similar Main Street cities.

Ms. Laugher will use a report of the session provided by the state coordinator to use with her board to put together a new work plan for 2014-15 and as a reference for several years to come.
